Information and Assessment Meeting

At this meeting, you will be assessed for eligibility for publicly funded mediation (see below). It is really important that you bring the evidence requested to this meeting or we will have to charge you the assessment meeting fee.

This meeting lasts for up to ¾ hour if you come on your own and up to 1 ¼ hours if you come with your ex. There is a flat fee of £65 per person unless you are eligible for public funding when it will be free.

If you come to the assessment meeting together and want to make a start on mediation there will be an additional charge for this of £25 per person. Your mediator will explain this during your assessment meeting. This session will be free if you are assessed as eligible for public funding.

Do you qualify for publicly funded mediation?

Clients on low income, with limited or no capital assets will be assessed for eligibility for free mediation under the public funding scheme (previously legal aid).

To be assessed to receive free mediation, you MUST bring the following information to your introductory meeting:-

National Insurance Number
AND
Bank statement(s)dated in the month to the assessment meeting covering a full month and showing all income as well as expenditure on rent/mortgage and childcare
AND
Most recent payslip (if you are working) or evidence of self employed income
OR
Proof of benefits (e.g. Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance, ESA, Pension)
AND
Bank statement(s)dated in the month to the assessment meeting covering a full month and showing receipt of benefits as well as expenditure on rent/mortgage.

The public funding rules mean that if you are unable to provide evidence of your means we will have to charge for the session.

Scale of Fees

Unless eligible for public funding, clients using our service are expected to pay for their sessions according to their income. We are that many of those who are not entitled to public funding are not high earners and, for this reason, our fees are on a sliding scale. These are set out below and are payable at the start of each session. Payment can be by cash, debit/credit card or cheque.

Current charges per person for full mediation sessions, based on individual gross income:-
